To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

The $100M and $20M cost estimates for the Somerville Community Path as described in the April 28, 2016 letter from Secretary Pollack to FTA Administrator Mary Beth Mello.

To further clarify the documents I am seeking, I refer to the letter from April 28th, which is available starting at page 79 of the MassDOT GLX report available here: http://www.mbta.com/uploadedfiles/About_the_T/Board_Meetings/GLXBOARDREPORTFINALv2.pdf

The relevant section of the letter reads:

"Because of this, the order of magnitude cost of the Path as originally designed was in the range of $100 million, based on a cost comparison prepared by the IPMT. An alternative, simplified Community Path concept has been developed by the IPMT that reduces the structures required to support the Path and the time required to build it. We believe that the cost of the alternative Path concept is approximately $20 million."

The documents I am requesting are:
• the detailed cost estimate of $100M, as mentioned above,
• the detailed cost estimates of the $20M plan, also as mentioned above.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Jonah Petri
