From: Michael Best
To Whom It May Concern:
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
All previously released and unreleased records on Communist Influence in Racial Matters, which was sometimes abbreviated as CRIM. At least 42 volumes are known to exist for New York and 11 for Los Angeles. Please include these and all files from other field offices including FBI HQ.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. These files will improve the public's understanding of how it has been manipulated by foreign governments and foreign intelligence agencies, and how Communist governments and agents manipulated racial tensions in the United States.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Michael Best
