Hello Mr. Koob:

Please provide clarification on you request.

1.
What is the timeframe for your search?
2.
What offices do you want us to search? or Whose emails do you want us to search?
3.
Are you looking for these keywords related to the 2020 Census? Or Census adding the sexual orientation and gender identity to the 2020 Census? (If so, we already have records related to that question on our FOIA library)

Please let me know if you have any questions about this clarification. I can be reached at census.efoia@census.gov or 301-763-2127.

Thanks.

Hello Ms. Reed,

Thank you for your reply! I will reply to your requests for clarification in order:

1. The timeframe of my search is from 01/01/2017 to present, 4/6/2018.

2. I would prefer a request for a search of all offices, but if necessary I am amenable to Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. I would also like any correspondence received by the Bureau from the Executive Office of the President.

3. Both, and if that is not possible I will submit an additional request. If I have to choose one now to have it fulfilled- the latter, please!

Thank you so much for your time and public service. Please let me know if I can answer additional questions pertaining to the fulfillment of my request.

Best,

Cameron Koob

From: U.S. Census Bureau

Hello Mr. Koob:

Thank you for your message.

Thank you for providing the timeframe.

In regards to the offices and staff, any specificity is greatly appreciated to narrow the scope and maximize resources. For instance, we could do DIR, ADDC, POP, SESHD and CQAS. Also, please look at the FOIA library for the records we have already posted on SOGI. The search for these records was from January 1, 2017 to approx. August, 2017.

I will amend your request to (1) include records from the Executive Office of the President and (2) include records related to sexual orientation, gender identity, LGBT, Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender as it relates to the 2020 Census.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,

Hello Mr. Koob,

There's another question in regards to your request. We have agreed that you want records related to adding "SOGI" to the 2020 Census. If you want the other part which is SOGI as related to 2020 Census, you would need to make another request as you suggested. Please keep in mind, that request is so broad it would need major narrowing of subject/scope. Every form, manual, etc for any survey across the Bureau would contain at least one of these terms, as would thousands of emails and other documents.

I just wanted to give you a heads up should you decide to narrow that portion and we can keep it in this request.

Please advise me on how you want to proceed.

If you want to discuss, I can be reached at census.efoia@census.gov or 301-763-2127.

Thanks.
