Request Number: 18-00121-FOIA
Dear Mr. Freudenthal:
This is regarding your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request of November 7, 2017, for respective copy contracts between the CDC and any subcontractors documents involved in the collection, transport, processing, storage and shipping of Ebola samples(Date Range for Record Search: From 12/1/2013 To 11/7/2017).
Please see the attached letter.
Sincerely,
CDC/ATSDR FOIA Office

From: Emmanuel Freudenthal

Dear CDC,

Could you clarify specifically which of the 4 points of the request you find is overly broad ?

I believe that the request is sufficiently narrow, so I think there's a point on which we don't understand each other. Here are further details on the documents requested which I hope will clear any misunderstanding:
- Under point 1: I doubt there will be many contracts for the collection, transport, processing, storage and shipping of Ebola samples. This would be quite a specific activity. If you would prefer a search term, then I'd like all of the contracts which contain the word "Ebola" in the title or content between 2013 and now.
- Point 2 is also very specific. If such a list does not exist, then please let me know.
- Point 3: I have provided you with a specific search term and the responsive document would only be a list of projects.
- Point 4: I could have been clearer there. I seek the the final reports, if they exist, or the annual reports of all the projects funded by the CDC that are relevant to the request, i.e. those that have the word "Ebola" and that would be the projects that are listed in the reply to Point 3.

Best,
Emmanuel

Dear CDC,

My apologies, I had missed this letter.

Could we re-open this request?

I would like the following, which i've tried to narrow down:
1. A copy of all of contracts between the CDC and any subcontractors involved in the collection, transport, processing, storage and shipping of Ebola samples from Liberia, Sierra Leone and/or Guinea between 2013 and now.

2. A list of security incidents related to the transportation, storage, tracking, and use of Ebola samples collected in Liberia, Sierra Leone and/or Guinea.

3. A list of all the projects funded by the CDC with ‘Ebola’ in the name or the description between 2013 and today.

4. If this is still not sufficiently narrow, please let me know which points are too broad.

Thanks in advance. Best regards,
Emmanuel
