The 1981 murders of Fred A. Alvarez, Patricia R. Castro and Ralph A. Boger near Indio, California.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I am appealing the decision to close this request as well as the determination that I did not provide enough information to even attempt a search. I was never sent notification about it being closed, though I was told that the names of the victims (three different individuals) as well as the time and place of the crime isn't enough for the Bureau to try to search (though it clearly is, as it's the SAME information that the Bureau requested). I replied to the request for additional information but never heard back.

I provided the incidents you requested. It's also confirmed from previous releases that the Bureau looked into and corresponded on the matter. What more information would you like?

I am appealing the FBI's decision to once again refuse to perform the search. I provided more than ample information in the original request, but FBI declined to perform the search. On appeal, OIP remanded the search to FBI - but FBI still refuses to perform the search claiming that the names of the victims, the location, type of crime and confirmation from other files that FBI was consulted is not enough to perform a search.

Estimated Dates of Completion
Requests are processed in the order in which they are received through our multi-track processing system. Requests are divided into two primary tracks--simple (under 50 pages of potentially responsive documents) and complex (over 50 pages of potentially responsive documents). Complex requests are further divided into medium, large, and extra-large sub-tracks based upon request size. Simple track requests typically require the least amount of time to process. Currently, simple track cases average approximately 152 days from the date of receipt for processing. Our complex requests in the medium processing track are currently averaging 922 days, large processing track are currently averaging approximately 1,964 days, and extra-large processing track are currently averaging 2,360 days for processing.
