Dear Mr. Delaware,

Thank you for your FOIA request. I'm working on part of the initial
search, and I have a few follow-up questions to ensure that you receive all
of the records that relate to your request.

When we search for records, are you interested in receiving correspondence
sent to the White House by members of the general public, newspaper
articles, press releases, or other publicly released material? Many of the
publicly released materials and press releases can be found online at
http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/ under the 'News' section.

If you would like to talk to me about the search, or if you need
clarification on my questions, you can contact me at sarah.quick@nara.gov.

Sincerely,

Sarah Quick, Archivist

Hello Ms. Quick-

In regards to Victor Davis Hanson, I would most certainly be interested in any correspondence sent to the White House, along with any correspondence sent to the White House by Mr. Hanson. I was born and raised in the Central Valley, and was a one time student at Fresno State. I'm familiar with Mr. Hanson, and I know that his support of "Neo-conservative" policies resulted in him being viewed as a somewhat controversial academic during the Bush administration.

I would hope that the scope of a FOIA about an individual person would include:

-correspondence from Mr. Hanson to the White House
-correspondence from the White House to Mr. Hanson
-correspondence from the general public about the White House's relationship with Mr. Hanson
-internal memos, e-mails or documents that discuss deliberations into awarding Mr. Hanson a National Medals of Arts and National Humanities Medals medal in November of 2007
-drafts of the speech President Bush gave when awarding a medal to Mr. Hanson in 2007
-internal memos, e-mails or documents that discuss deliberations into the appointment of Mr. Hanson to the American Battle Monuments Commission
-correspondence from members of the public regarding Mr. Hanson's service on the American Battle Monuments Commission
-a list of any books (including galleys or advanced copies) sent (or gifted) by Mr. Hanson to any member of the Bush administration

My hope is that this FOIA would cover the entire "kit and caboodle" and would hopefully be posted in full one day on the website.
