Bowe Bergdahl Coast Guard records

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

The Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) including all fitness report and counseling forms, the most recent cumulative record of training, any background summary file, Form DD-214 and, if applicable, any and all Officer Personnel Action Requests, Officer Evaluation Reports, Officer Support Forms, Reports on the Fitness of Admirals, for former Coast Guard member Bowe Robert Bergdahl, born March 28, 1986.

Because Bergdahl is a figure of intense interest by the national news media, there is an urgency to inform the public about Bergdahl’s record pertaining to any alleged government activity in the Coast Guard. Please respond with an estimation of the amount of time it will take to process the request.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
