Dear Mr. Sampson,
Due to the federal government shutdown from October 1 - 16, 2013, the Department of Education's personnel were not able to work during that period, and therefore that had an impact on processing FOIA requests. The FOIA Service Center (FSC) is awaiting responsive documents from the program office that your request was forwarded to. The Department has an overwhelming number of FOIA requests and are processed on a first-in-first-out basis. As soon as the FSC receives the responsive documents from the program office, they will be processed. If you haven't received communications from the FSC by November 30th, please feel free to contact us at 202.401.8365.
