From: Michael Morisy

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

I request a copy of all NTSB emails, memos and documents concerning the interaction with the press concerning the names of the pilots on Asiana Flight 214.

I also request a copy of all emails (to, from, cc, etc.) in the email system of Kelly Nantel that contain the word “KTVU”. You may limit it to emails in July 2013. This is an electronic search that can be done rather easily and quickly.

I also request all memos sent to or from the NTSB's public affairs office regarding information verification, the agency's internship program and intern policies, and personal privacy sent during the month of July.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Michael Morisy

Mr. Morisy,

Thank you for your inquiry. We began processing your request (as previously stated out of turn) in August. This included contacting the appropriate offices for records, etc... We were just starting to review the records we received in September prior to the federal government shutdown. At that time the FOIA Office also relocated to another floor which stopped the process.

I am happy to say the relocation is completed, we are back to work and once again processing your request. Our plan is to complete your request sometime next month. Thank you for your patience.

Mr. Morisy:

We processed your request, and documents are essentially ready for release, except for the fact that the master electronic file was corrupted in the last few days. We are in the process of restoring the redactions and, because the documents have been reviewed already, expect a response to you in the next week or so that will include well over 1,000 responsive pages of records. We thank you for your patience.

Good Afternoon, Mr. Morisy,

We provided a response to this request on Thursday, August 28, 2014. You may have received our response letter and CD-ROM by now. Please note we inadvertently applied the following exemptions (b)(1), (b)(2), and (b)(7)(a) to three of the pages (pages, 186, 758, and 855) we released in part regarding the above referenced FOIA request. We removed those exemptions and are providing you with a corrected CD-ROM, which we will mail today. Please disregard the CD-ROM that was mailed to you on August 28, 2014.
