From: James Jacobs
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I request the Annual reports to Congress for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) from 1975 - 2007.
CFIUS has been in operation since President Ford's Executive Order 11858 in 1975. However, the annual reports to Congress for CFIUS are available on the Department of the Treasury Web site only from 2008 - present, and previous years were not made available through the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP).
In order to help you determine my status for the purpose of assessing fees, you should know that I am affiliated with an educational or noncommercial scientific institution, and this request is made for a scholarly or scientific purpose and not for a commercial use. I request a FOIA fee waiver based on my affiliation as a librarian with Stanford University Library.
I can be contacted if necessary to discuss any aspect of my request via phone ((650) 862-9871) or email (jrjacobs@stanford.edu).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
James Jacobs
