Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
To determine how and when the Department of Justice has appointed temporary BIA members in the last 4 years, I am requesting the following records since 1/1/2018:
1. For each person appointed to be a temporary Board of Immigration Appeals member, the order appointing them (for individuals appointed more than once, this requests includes all such orders).
2. Each memorandum from the EOIR director requesting appointment of a person to be a Temporary Board Member (this includes memoranda on individuals who weren't eventually appointed).
3. Each memorandum from the Deputy Attorney General concurring in the appointment of a person to be a Temporary Board Member.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
