Dear Mr. Mackie,

This is in reference to your email sent on November 29, 2016 regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case number F-2016-14470 you submitted on October 25, 2016.

Department of State electronic notes indicate that on November 7, 2016 the Requester Communications Branch mailed to your address of record a confirmation letter. In the letter, they indicated that they could not process your request because you had not reasonably described the records you seek in a way that someone familiar with Department records and programs could locate them. A copy of that letter is attached for your information.

To obtain Department records under the Freedom of Information Act, you will need to submit a new request. Detailed information may be found at www.foia.state.gov<http://www.foia.state.gov>. You may either submit a Freedom of Information request electronically at the Department of State's FOIA website at: www.foia.state.gov<http://www.foia.state.gov>, fax the request to the Requester Communications Branch at: 202 261-8579, or mail the request to: U.S. Department of State, Office of Information Programs and Services, (A/GIS/IPS/RL/RC), 515 22nd Street, N.W., Suite 8100, Washington, D.C. 20522. Please provide the above FOIA case number with your new request.

We hope this information is helpful. If you have further concerns or any questions regarding any FOIA-related matter, please contact the FOIA Requester Service Center (FRSC) at (202) 261-8484, or fax us at (202) 261-8579 or send an e-mail to foiastatus@state.gov.
