To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

Copies of all 30-day reports filed with the FISC about "the number of approved selectors and the number of disseminations of U.S. person information made during the reporting period" in regards to metadata collection programs. These reports are referenced in the NSA talking points developed after media leaks earlier this year (https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.documentcloud.org/documents/813055/nsa-talking-points.pdf). Specifically, they are mentioned on page six of document 4081031.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Zack Sampson

Mr. Sampson,

We received your fax regarding status of FOIA Case 75381 (30-day reports filed with the FISC referenced in NSA Talking Points Doc 4081031).

As you may be aware, the NSA FOIA Office has experienced a significant increase in the number of requests being received by this Agency. This added volume has caused additional delays in processing. We have begun our search for responsive records, and hope to provide you additional information as soon as practicable; however we anticipate this could take several more months.

We appreciate your patience as we process each case in a first-in, first-out manner.
