Ms. Lipton,

TRADOC is not the office of record for the requested 2015 Balikatan exercise materials. It has been determined through the Army Times article link you provided that the U.S. Army Pacific Command (PACOM) would be the office of record. Your request was assigned control number 15-0160, referred to PACOM, and is administratively closed.

To Whom It May Concern,

I and CW3 Donald Overton one of the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) officers. I have been going thru the Army FOIA
database and I noticed this old case that was referred to USARAPC from
another Command. For a period of time there was a lapse in FOIA coverage,
but I am now assigned those duties.

Within the case posted on the database there is not much information there
and no attachments for any formal request that may have been submitted. If
this is still a valid request and you did not receive responsive documents
of any information stating that there were no responsive documents please
resend the request to me.

I hope you have a lovely evening, and, again, I really appreciate you following up.

Best wishes,
Beryl

Hello Mr. Overton,

I actually found another request that was initially submitted to the Navy and then forwarded to your office. It had been assigned 2015-F-61. Could you please confirm that this request is identical and completed?

Thanks so much!
Beryl

Good Day Beryl,

Just to follow up, the information that you provided below was not entered into the DA FOIA database. The case has been administratively closed. Looking at what is uploaded, I cannot tell what was forwarded and/or completed. I can open/re-open the case with the information provided and push it to the correct entities if that is your desire; please advise.

I definitely apologize for any confusion. There was a lapse in FOIA personnel coverage here in U.S. Army Pacific Command and the case was not properly tended to.

Hello Mr. Overton,

Thank you so much for your help! I've attached the response letter I received regarding another version of this request; that version was initially submitted to the Navy and then forwarded to your office, I believe. However, if this is incorrect or if there may be more materials available, I would greatly appreciate continued processing of this request.

Thanks so much for following up on this. That was really great of you.

Have a lovely evening,
Beryl

Ms. Lipton,

If this is the case, did you get the one document mentioned in the report? PACOM is our higher headquarters here in the Pacific and we would defer to their decision on the request. As it is written, I would take this as being a completed/fulfilled request pending any of your follow-on/appeal actions.
