Mr. Hudson,

The Office of the Attorney General ("OAG") is in receipt of your communication below, however, I believe there may be language missing from your request. The OAG has over 4,200 employees. Are there specific employees whose e-mails you are requesting? Is there a specific topic for which you would like us to search? Thanks in advance for your clarification.

Sincerely,

Lauren Downey
Assistant Attorney General
Public Information Coordinator
Office of the Attorney General

From: Ben Hudson

Lauren,

Thank you for your prompt response! My apologies for the initial lack of clarification.

I would like all emails to/from the Administrative Divisions (listed here https://texasattorneygeneral.gov/agency/administrative-divisions). In addition, I would like all emails to/from Attorney General Paxton.

The time period I am requesting remains 1/1/17 - 3/27/17.

Thank you,

Ben Hudson

Mr. Hudson,

Thank you for your rapid response. Please be advised that your request implicates tens of thousands of e-mails, and the Office of the Attorney General would be sending you a cost estimate to pay before we began any work on processing your request. The OAG would prefer to help you narrow your request, to avoid costs, and to help us locate the specific information you are interested in receiving. Are you able to identify a specific topic for which we can search? Are there specific employees, as opposed to entire divisions? Thanks again for your clarification.

Sincerely,

Lauren Downey
Assistant Attorney General
Public Information Coordinator
Office of the Attorney General

From: Ben Hudson

Lauren,

I will revise my request to include all emails to/from the following individuals:
- The Honorable Ken Paxton
- Katherine Cary
- Angelia Harris
- Michele Price

Let me know if more specificity is needed, but I would prefer not to limit the request further.

Thank you,

Ben Hudson

Mr. Hudson,

Thank you for your clarification. We will take a look at the volume of e-mails sent to/from the four individuals named below over the three month span, and let you know if it will require a cost estimate.

Sincerely,

Lauren Downey

RE: Public Information Request No. 17-46400

From: Ben Hudson

Lauren,

Thank you for compiling the cost estimate. Would you be able to re-calculate the cost estimate for me based on the following amendment to my request?

I would like to keep the time frame the same but I would only like to request emails between the following four people:
- The Honorable Ken Paxton
- Katherine Cary
- Angelia Harris
- Michele Price

I believe this will markedly reduce the number of relevant records, thus lowering the cost estimate significantly.

Thank you for your help,

Ben Hudson

Mr. Hudson,

Thank you for your correspondence. Can you please clarify if you are only requesting communications in which the four individuals are directly communicating with one another? For example, if someone has sent an e-mail to Michele Price, and just cc's Katherine Cary, you are not interested in those communications, correct? Thank you in advance for your clarification.

Sincerely,

Lauren Downey

Lauren,

That is correct, yes.

Thank you,
