To Whom It May Concern,
Thank you for your response to my previous request. To clarify, I am seeking submissions and responses to and from the Institutional Review Board in regards to The Forensic Anthropology Research Facility from 2008 to present. I understand that might end up producing a large number of documents so if it is more timely, I would ask if it was possible to have a sample of document from 2008 until present.
Sincerely,
Kaleb Vaughn

Mr. Vaughn,

The University is having difficulty locating responsive records without incurring extensive costs. Researchers working at the FARF will identify themselves as “Anthropology” faculty, not FARF researchers. The system used to store this information is unable to pull FARF projects from the scope of work, therefore, we would have to read through the scope of work for each Anthropology protocol to determine if it is a FARF related project. When FARF is used as an identifier, the report produces 0 results.

Therefore, to ensure the accuracy of the records, we will have to read through all of the Anthropology submissions to identify the FARF submissions.
If we have a list of FARF researchers to work from, we can search our records in that manner, and produce a report in a more efficient manner. That being said, University staff believe most of the research conducted at the FARF does not involve living individuals, and therefore does not require IRB review.

Can you provide the names of researchers from the FARF that you are seeking records for? If not, the University will have to create a cost estimate to locate these records.

Please clarify how you want us to proceed. You may send your clarification by return email, or you may mail, fax or hand-deliver the response to the TSUS Office of General Counsel, as follows:
