Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
For the year starting January 1 2018 ending May 1 2019
We are requesting the following data in machine readable format (not pdf):
For Adults
Calls for service by type of call, type of call by disposition (e.g. arrest and arrest type - misdemeanor or felony, by race)
Number of arrests, and number of misdemeanors arrests by race, and number of violent offenses by race.
Number of use of force incidents, and number by race of victim and by armed/unarmed status of victim
Number of civilian complaints, and number ruled in favor of civilians
Number of homicides, and number unsolved by race of victim
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.
I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

The City is in receipt of your request dated August 23, 2020 for the following information during the period of January 1, 2018 through May 1, 2019.
Request No. 1- Calls for service by type of call, type of call by disposition (e.g. arrest and arrest type - misdemeanor or felony, by race)
Request No. 2- Number of arrests, and number of misdemeanors arrests by race, and number of violent offenses by race.
Request No. 3- Number of use of force incidents, and number by race of victim and by armed/unarmed status of victim
Request No. 4- Number of civilian complaints, and number ruled in favor of civilians

Attached pdf files contain information responsive to your request pertaining to your request for calls for service data (Request No. 1).
Attached pdf files contain information pertaining to your request for the number of arrests (Request No. 2) which include the following details: crime report number, name/dob of arrestee, charges, race/sex of arrestee, arresting officer's name, and arrest date/time. Juvenile information has been redacted from the report to comply with California W&I Code 827.9.
For use of force incidents (Request No. 3), the California Department of Justice provides an annual report for use of force incidents resulting in great bodily injury. The City of Sunnyvale has made some information available on the number of civilian complaints (Request No. 4) which can be obtained on the City website here, https://sunnyvale.ca.gov/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=27286.
Information for homicides incidents (Request No. 5) is reported to DOJ; you can obtain the information here, https://openjustice.doj.ca.gov/exploration/crime-statistics/crimes-clearances. The City does not have a responsive record for your inquiry regarding the number of homicides unsolved by race of victim.
