Pursuant to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
(1) Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, any and all records concerning hearings regarding the dismissal of any police chief conducted pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes, 7-278 since October 1, 1983.
(2) Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, any and all agreements and/or contracts regarding the employment of any police chief since October 1, 1983.
I also request that, if possible and pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. § 1-212(d), fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest and not made for commercial gain. The requested documents will be processed by a representative of the news media/press and made available to the public at MuckRock.com.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 4 business days, as the statute requires.

?Ms. Baird, this email will act as the Town of Stonington's acknowledgement of your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated June 28, 2021. Because of the scope of time covered by your request, upon best information and belief it will take a few weeks to retrieve and review historical files to see if there are documents responsive to your request. You should not consider this delay as a denial of your request. Upon further research, you will be advised as to the anticipated time for release of the documents and the total cost for the copies of the responsive documents, which is at the statutory rate of $.50 per page.

Ms. Baird, please find the responsive documents to your FOIA request to the Town of Stonington. Given the limited size of the documents requested, we are able to provide these documents electronically.
As we are required to retain personnel files for 30 years following termination of employment, we are providing the information we have for the three Chiefs of Police during this time period. No Chiefs of Police were dismissed during this period of time.
In the case of Chief of Police Hedge, we do not have any employment agreement/contract in the personnel file but have included a letter that refers to pay and benefits for this position.
