Chicago Births 2010-2021

This email is in response to your recent Freedom of Information Act request for records pertaining to the annual count of live births occuring in the City of Chicago for the calendar years 2010-2021.

The Department seeks clarification regarding your request. Please state whether you want births among Chicago residents or births that actually occurred in Chicago.

Please reply directly to this email. Once received, the Department will be able to release the requested documents. Please note that after close of business on July 15, 2022, if the information is not submitted, this request will be considered closed due to the 10-day FOIA deadline for this request.

This email is in response to your recent Freedom of Information Act request for records pertaining to 410 ILCS 535/10 certifications sent to Cook County for calendar years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Records responsive to your request are attached.

The Department has partially denied your request pursuant to Section 7(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, which exempts from inspection and copying "[p]rivate information, unless disclosure is required by another provision of this Act, a State or federal law or a court order." Private information is defined as "unique identifiers, including a person's social security number, driver's license number, employee identification number, biometric identifiers, personal financial information, passwords or other access codes, medical records, home or personal telephone numbers, and personal email addresses." 5 ILCS 140/2(c-5). Private information also "includes home address and personal license plates, except as otherwise provided by law or when compiled without possibility of attribution to any person." Id. Furthermore, signatures have been determined to be unique identifiers, thus "private information" by the Public Access Counselor opinion in 2010 PAC 9838. Pursuant to the above, signatures have been redacted from the records responsive.
