From: Yani Yancey

To Whom It May Concern:

The Washington Post reports that the police SUV depicted in Bryce Reeves' May 3, 2017 ad for Lt. Governor is a Spotsylvania Sheriff's vehicle whose deputy's overtime was paid by the campaign: (https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/virginia-politics/terrorism-looms-large-in-first-ad-of-va-lieutenant-governors-race/2017/05/03/a12a9598-2ff7-11e7-9534-00e4656c22aa_story.html)

Pursuant to Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any invoices, bills, contracts, emails, text messages, letters, memoranda or other records between Reeves For Lt. Governor & the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department from January 1, 2017 through May 3, 2017 that may shed light on this arrangement.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Please note that I am a citizen of Virginia, and am using MuckRock's services to help manage and track my request.

Sincerely,

A no responsive documents response.

Good afternoon,

Attached is the FOIA response letter. If anything else is needed, please let me know.

From: Russel Neiss

Thanks for the quick reply --

Just to confirm -- the Post piece says the Reeves' Campaign paid for the deputy's overtime. So if it was not clear in the initial request, I am seeking any records that document that payment or the costs incurred including overtime cards, time sheets, supplemental incident reports, logs, or cancelled checks.

Finally, it's my understanding that your cruisers have dashboard cameras. I am seeking any footage that was recorded from the SUV cruiser depicted in the campaign advertisement.

Thank you again so much for your anticipated assistance.

Due to this security detail request being last minute, Senator Reeves paid the deputy direct. Attached is a copy of the cancelled checks provided by Senator Reeves.

For clarification, not every cruiser is equipped with a dashboard camera. The deputy was using an unassigned vehicle that not yet been programmed.
