From: Erik Peterson

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

A log of public records requests submitted to the Department of Commerce that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Erik Peterson

Mr. Peterson,

Please find attached the South Carolina Freedom of Information Request log maintained by the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

Please note that “No” or “None” in the “Records” column does not necessarily mean that the agency did not have any responsive records. Upon review of older entries, starting in 2012, we started to use “No” or “None” not only for requests where we had no responsive records in our possession, but also for any instance in which records were not provided because they were exempt from disclosure at the time of the request.

Sincerely,

Karen Blair Manning
