To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the South Carolina Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all directives, orders, plans, and communications issued to officials and managerial staff within facilities under the jurisdiction of this agency, as well as those provided to individuals under the supervision of this agency, regarding preparatory or responsive measures and requirements related to COVID-19, also known as coronavirus.

Please include as responsive any relevant plans and directives issued regarding inmate health, behavior, and participation in preparatory and defensive activities, including those conducted by the correctional industry program.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act enumerates several matters which are exempt from disclosure pursuant to the Act or are excluded from the Act's definition of a public record. All the records which you have requested in FOIA-0130-20 are subject to one of these exemptions or exclusions. Specifically, the records you have requested are exempt or excluded based on the below listed sections of the FOIA statute. Because all the records you have requested are unavailable under FOIA, FOIA-0130-20. However, our Media Director, Chrysti Shain will be contacting you with a Media response.

Applicable exemptions and exclusions:
SC Code ยง 30-4-20(c) Security plans and devices: "Information relating to security plans and devices proposed, adopted, installed, or utilized by a public body . . . is required to be closed to the public[.]"
