Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code §§ 6250), I hereby request the following records:
- A list of all arrest-related deaths during incidents involving Shafter PD officers since 2004.
- A list of all homicides by Shafter PD officers since 2004.
- A list of all officer-involved shootings by Shafter PD officers since 2004.
- A list of all complaints made by civilians against Shafter PD officers alleging excessive or inappropriate use of force since 2004, including outcomes of any subsequent inquiries.
In each case, please provide as much detail as is possible, including but not limited to: date of incident, street address of incident, identities/ages/sexes/races of the deputies and civilians involved, weapons used, circumstances of incident, police incident report or officer's narrative.
If fulfilling part of this request should delay your expected response time, please do not wait until all the information is available but rather release elements as they become available.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
