Hall,

Here is SPD's latest update on Occupy Seattle expenses. This week's numbers for the Occupy folks are actually pretty small if you strictly take what was charged to that activity. It's about $11,500. However, they did join two other events which cost an additional $70K. At this point SPD feels it is appropriate to include these costs with the Occupy costs. What I am unclear on at this point is how much Occupy really added to those other events. I am have some questions in to SPD at this point trying to figure this out, but wanted to get this to you today. I will keep you updated on what I find out.

I think we sent these numbers to Jennifer, but probably in the wrong format. Either way, here's another copy in the template spreadsheet (they may even match). Let me know if you have questions.

That was last week. It was on Wednesday the 2nd, which accounted for $32K of the $37K in costs incurred this week. Again, you will notice the figures from last week, which were originally reported as $49K, have increased to $109K. There is a lag between the work and the folks in Fiscal Services getting the costs. I expect we will see updated figures from this last week which will show an increase over the $37K.

But for now, this is all SPD has to provide.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Wasn't the bank sit-in last week? Or was that over the weekend?

I already have some figures in from SPD. Again, they have revised the figures from last week upwards, which isn't a surprise. What I am trying to get some more information on is the figures they provided for this week. It totals $37K, which seems a bit low. I'd just like to confirm with them, but see no problem in getting this to Hall by COB today.

Jennifer, Mike,

Hoping that the two of you will touch base with your departments this morning.

As you know, Jennifer sent a reminder e-mail last Tue (very early afternoon I believe), and FAS did not send the data, in any form, until after 6:00 that evening.

It would be good to get the template back during office hours today. Maybe a morning reminder would help? Worth taking a shot anyway. Thanks for the assistance.

Hall, per SPD, they have spent $97,200 through the 14th.

Cameron and Mike – can you please follow up with SDOT and SPD to see where this is? We need this ASAP today as we have to get info to reporters shortly.

Beth had sent out a template for them to use, so they should have that (it’s very simple).

Thanks.

Just checking on the status of this information. I don't believe I have received the summaries from any of the departments. I believe at least some in the media are expecting this info tomorrow. Please provide your dept summary to Hall and me ASAP.

Thanks-
Beth

Good morning,

I have received buy-off from the Mayor's Office on the weekly reporting structure for overtime costs incurred as a result of Occupy Seattle. Attached is a template we'd like you to use to submit your data on a weekly basis, starting this Tuesday. For consistency sake, we'd like each department to submit to CBO (Hall and me) by COB each Tuesday their overtime use for the week ending the prior Friday. Since this Tuesday will be the 1st week of this and costs have been accumulating for more than a week, we'd like this Tuesday's report to include all OS overtime incurred through the end of the day today. Each subsequent report would then isolate the costs for the week, with a cumulative total embedded in the attached template.

Thanks in advance for your work in tracking this information. Please don't hestiate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Thanks--

Beth

We would have to set up a small side system to trtack costs. Weekly would make it much more manageable.

We could do this, but it will create a bit of a distraction for the very people we’re calling on to manage operations. If we could ask for the frequency to be reduced to weekly, that would be much appreciated.

We have received a request from the Mayor’s Office to compile reports on M, W and F of each week on what Occupy Seattle is costing us. I have two initial questions as we embark upon this work. 1) Is three times per week too often for you to provide meaningful information. If we did a M, W , F approach, CBO would need your cost figures for the Friday report, for example, by COB on Thursday for costs incurred through Wednesday. Information for the Monday report would need to arrive at CBO by 9:00 a.m. on Monday and contain data through Friday, and information for the Wednesday report would need to be provided to CBO by COB on Tuesday with data through Monday. 2) If this approach would not work, it would be helpful to have input from you on what is a more realistic time frame. The Mayor’s Office is eager to get started on this, so your input on how we approach this is needed ASAP.

Thanks--

Hall,

Attached is the latest figure from SPD. Again, you will notice the numbers from the previous reporting periods have changed. This is mostly because they are getting updated information. Regarding this latest week, the number seems low. When asked to explain, I was given two explanations. First, the activity is indeed decreasing. Secondly, there were other events on October 22nd that SPD worked on that may have had some crossover with the OS folks. The number here is what was coded to the OS activity code.

Do we have occupy seattle cost updates from FAS and SPD thru last week? I may have missed them, so please forward again if I did.

Thanks.

Hall,

Here is the latest update for SPD's Occupy Seattle costs through the 21st. There are two items I want to bring to your attention.

First, SPD projects $160,516 in expenses for the week ending October 21st.

Second, SPD has revised their costs for the previous week. They had reported costs of $97,200 previously. The Department is now saying their costs were $143,818. They are citing a communication error as the reason for the $40,000 discrepancy. It was related to one day in particular (Thursday October 13th).

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
