To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to RCW Ch. 42.56 (Public Records Act), I hereby request the following records:

All e-mail between your staff and those of the Council of State Governments (csg.org). I request that these records be provided in their native electronic format. Please do not create new records for me by, for instance, printing the electronic records to paper then digitizing them.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Mr. Mocek,

We have received your Public Disclosure Request on August 20th, 2015 requesting:

"All e-mail between your staff and those of the Council of State Governments (csg.org). I request that these records be provided in their native electronic format. Please do not create new records for me by, for instance, printing the electronic records to paper then digitizing them."

We are going to assume the date range for this request is 01/01/2015 to 8/06/2015 - the day you originally sent the request. Please write back if this does not satisfy the date range specifications for your request. Our goal is to have responsive records ready around October 2nd, 2015.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Dear Ms. Rocha:

In your e-mail of August 21, you wrote that you "are going to assume the date range for this request is 01/01/2015 to 8/06/2015." Please do not assume this. Please search for all e-mails to and from your office's staff and CSG. If there is some date before which searching records requires, say, restoring from tape backups stored deep in a mountain, then please let me know and I can likely limit my request. Please save us both the effort of a followup request by searching until the date of processing of my request instead of limiting it to weeks earlier. I am experienced with searching for e-mail and know that a few different keystrokes are all that separate the broader search from the narrower one. This is not a matter of digging through filing cabinets, it's e-mail I seek.

Cordially,
Phil Mocek
