Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request from City of Santa Barbara Police Department any records, datasets, or materials that contain the following:
For July 2020:
- Average response time of department for all calls
- Average response time of department for domestic violence calls only
For all domestic violence/domestic disturbance calls to the 911 dispatch center in the month of July 2020, separated by individual call:
- Type of call
- Priority level
- Date and time of call received
- Date and time first officer arrived on scene
- Race and ethnicity of victim, if available
- Race and ethnicity of perpetrator(s), if available
- Outcome or resolution of call
For July 2019:
- Average response time of department for all calls
- Average response time of department for domestic violence calls only
For all domestic violence/domestic disturbance calls to the 911 dispatch center in the month of July 2019, separated by individual call:
- Type of call
- Priority level
- Date and time of call received
- Date and time first officer arrived on scene
- Race and ethnicity of victim, if available
- Race and ethnicity of perpetrator(s), if available
- Outcome or resolution of call
The requested documents will be made available to the general public. These records are being requested as part of a collaborative research effort and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Hi there,
Thank you for your request. Unfortunately, our crime analyst is out on vacation for another week, so I do not have all of the information you have requested. When she returns, I will have her run this again, so that I am confident you have received all of the records you are requesting.
What I have attached is a spreadsheet listing domestic calls, if a report was taken then we were able to get the race/ethnicity of the victim and suspect, please note there may be duplicate entries because of this information.
Below are the response times for priority 1, 2, 3 and 4 calls, but we were not able to just pull out the domestic calls at this time. I believe this is something that the crime analyst will be able to complete when she is back.

Again, this is information is incomplete at this time, but I expect that I can complete your request no later then November 12, 2021.
