From: Jane Nevins

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code ยงยง 6250), I hereby request the following records:

Copies of all correspondence between The Cartel, the company that owns and organizes the Titans of Mavericks surf contest, and the Calfornia Coastal Commission.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Jane Nevins

Good Afternoon Ms. Nevins,

Please find the attached Permit Amendment. There may be other documents responsive to your request, I will provide you with an update and/or available documents on or before by Monday, December 12.

You seek all correspondence between Cartel Management and the California Coastal Commission. The San Mateo County Harbor District may receive copies of correspondence such as the attached, but as a third party we likely would not have all such correspondence. The California Coastal Commission is also subject to the Public Records Act and is more likely to have a complete record of such correspondence.

Cartel also was the permit holder for prior season. Are you interested in information from the previous contest or just with the current contest?

If you can address any related correspondence to me, it will help improve the district's ability to respond effectively.

Thank you,

Glenn Lazof

Good Morning Ms. Nevins

First, I apologize for being unable to get back to you yesterday as I had planned.

Thus far, I have not located additional documents pursuant to your request, other than the permit mailed to you last week. In my earlier e-mail below, I had noted that the California Coastal Commission would have a more complete record than the Harbor District, which is only a third party to this discussion. If you have or plan to file a request with the Coastal Commission, we would appreciate your consideration of whether you continue to wish us continue to search for that subset of the correspondence you seek, which will be duplicative of any records sent to you by the Coastal Commission. If we do not receive notification that you have turned the request over to the Coastal Commission, we will continue to seek responsive records for the current Mavericks Permit per your request. In case of the latter, I will update you further on or before January 5, 2017.

Thank you,

Glenn Lazof

Will you be asking the Coastal Commission for the full record? Please let me know if we should continue our search for what will likely be a partial record.
