Pursuant to the California's Sunshine Amendment (Cal. Const. Art. I, § 3(b)), I hereby request the following records:

All current policies maintained by the department regarding use of force.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

The police department makes its policy manual available on its website. You can access is by going to www.sjpd.org.<http://www.sjpd.org> At the very top of the department home page, in the blue banner, you will see a Records dropdown menu. Click on that, then lick Document Center. The Duty Manual is about middle page.

The manual is redacted in accordance with California Government Code 6254(f) where security procedures and tactical operations the release of which could jeopardize the safety of responding officers.
