Regarding your request #1, for the total number of use of force incidents, separated by type of force and year used in 2021, the Sheriff's office is able to provide to you the total number of use of force incidents in 2021: 280. Of these use of force incidents in 2021, 17 involved discharging a Taser, and 41 of those incidents involved mace/chemical spray.
One item in your public records request remains outstanding, which is your request for baton incidents in 2021. In order to process your request for the total number of baton incidents in 2021, the Sheriff's office must manually review each use of force incident report logged in 2021, and these documents are all in storage. The Sheriff's office estimates that manually reviewing incident reports for baton incident information will take at least 60 days, and possibly more time. Could you please let me know if the information that the Sheriff's office has provided to you so far is sufficient to satisfy your public records request?
