Communications
From: Jeff Elder
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
All communications between Mayor London Breed's office and Jeff Elder of Business Insider between February 18 and March 20, 2020.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Jeff Elder

Hi Jeff,
I don't understand your request. You are seeking all communications between the Mayor's Office and you? Or are you seeking something else?

Yes, Hank. I want what I asked for: All communications between Mayor London Breed's office and Jeff Elder of Business Insider between February 18 and March 20, 2020.
From: Office of the Mayor
Hi Jeff,
I see. I wasn't sure if you no longer had the records. I believe this is what you are looking for. If you click on the linked attachments in the document, the previously provided responsive records will come up.

Thanks, Hank. That's not what I'm looking for. I'm seeking emails between myself and Andy Lynch of the Mayor's Office on February 28, 2020, and any other emails between the Mayor's Office and myself between February 18 and March 20, 2020. Can you please call me at 704-650-4130? Thank you.

Thank you,
Jeff

Thanks, Hank. I do have a question. You wrote: "We no longer have copies of such records." Why not?
I'm at 704-650-4130.
Thanks very much,
Jeff
From: Jeff Elder
You appear to say that you will not destroy records here: "The Office of the Mayor agrees generally to... refrain from destroying the originals of any electronic public records that are responsive to a request at least before the request is completed." Why is the mayor destroying records while she calls for transparency and accountability?
From: Office of the Mayor
Hi Jeff,
I believe our press office answered your questions regarding our record retention policy.
