To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

(1) A list of all individuals processed who did not have a permanent address at the time of death (homeless individuals)
(2) Autopsy records and coroner's notes pertaining to the cause of death of previously stated individuals

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Our office is in receipt of your request for a list of individuals who were homeless or had no permanent address at the time of their passing. There is no timeframe included in your request - were you looking for all such cases that our office has handled in the last year, or in a particular year or set of years?

I would also like to advise you that our office does not have jurisdiction over every death in the county. Our jurisdiction is determined by the circumstances of death, and many natural deaths do not fall within our jurisdiction, so the numbers we produce will not be representative of all such deaths that occurred in San Diego County. Further, I will advise you that with data requests like this one, we cannot release any decedent's specific identity, so the list we produce once we have a timeframe will not include the decedents' names.
