To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Please provide the following:

1. All arrests data reported to the California Department of Justice via the Monthly Arrests and Citation Register program covering arrests made in 2017 and 2018, including (but not limited to) the age, race/ethnicity, gender, offense category (felony, misdemeanor, status offense), charge, unique subject id (also known as person_id), and disposition of arrestees.
2. All traffic stop data covering stops made in 2017 and 2018, including (but not limited to) the age, race/ethnicity, gender, offense category (felony, misdemeanor, status offense), charge, unique subject id (also known as person_id), and disposition of those stopped.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Good morning,

In response to item #2 of your request, the data you requested is available on the open data portal at https://data.sandiego.gov/datasets/?category=public-safety. There are two datasets for vehicle stop data through June 2018, and multiple datasets for pedestrian/vehicle stops following RIPA rqeuirements beginning in July 2018.

The City does not maintain the records for item #1. We recommend that you visit the Department of Justice open data portal at https://openjustice.doj.ca.gov/data.

Item #2 - Vehicle stop data is available on the City’s Open Data portal at: https://data.sandiego.gov/datasets/?category=public-safety. There are two datasets for vehicle stop data through June 2018, and multiple datasets for pedestrian/vehicle stops following RIPA rqeuirements beginning in July 2018.
