From: Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority
Good afternoon Mr. Nash,
Thanks again for your inquiry. Our records indicate you requested the following documents:
(1) All documents outlining RRHA building occupancy/capacity
(2) Copies of any building inspections completed between Jan. 1, 2017 and the time this request is processed.
In regard to item (1): RRHA does not possess any documents which outline the maximum occupancy or capacity of RRHA's business headquarters at 901 Chamberlayne Parkway. RRHA believes that such documentation, if it exists, was issued along with the original Certificate of Occupancy for this building several decades ago, and is no longer in RRHA's possession. Determinations of occupancy for relevant portions of this building were made internally by RRHA staff after accounting for generally accepted construction and engineering principles, including those found within the 2015 Virginia Uniform Statewide Fire Prevention Code, as well as the physical configuration of the concerned space and its means of egress.
In regard to item (2): RRHA's business headquarters at 901 Chamberlayne Parkway is not regularly inspected for any purpose. Neither is it required by applicable law that this building be so inspected. There is no general requirement in Virginia that structures undergo regular building inspections, whether by the relevant Code Official or any other responsible inspector. The exception to this is for elevators, which must be inspected on a regular basis in accordance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. Do you require information related to RRHA's elevators?
