To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Copies of all communications sent to correctional staff at all prisons in the state, including but not limited to emails, letters, and memos, sent between March 1, 2020 and the date this request is processed.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Dear Ms. Rock:
I am in receipt of your public record request. Please be advised, given the extremely vague language in your request I will need clarification before I can even begin to attempt to respond. Please define and/or further explain the following:
1. what you are referring to as "correctional staff"?
2. Who is the sender or originator of the communications that you seek?
3. What category or topic of communication are you referring to? (ie. COVID related, labor relations related, etc).
The department has 1400 employees who receive letters, emails and memos from all manner of individuals both within and outside the department. Clarification of your request is essential for me to adequately respond.

1. Correctional staff = anyone who is employed by the Department of Corrections and is a correctional officer.
2. The sender or originator is anyone from the director's office.
3. You can limit it only to those emails that were sent to the entire staff.
