From: Shawn Musgrave

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act ("APRA"), I hereby request the following records:

Written procedures for access to the agency’s public records, including any
records request forms required or suggested by the agency

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Shawn Musgrave

Dear Mr. Musgrave,

The form, which includes the procedure for requesting public records under APRA, can be found at the following link:

http://www.courts.ri.gov/PublicResources/media/PDF/APRA-informationrequestform.pdf

This link appears on the home page of the Rhode Island Judiciary's website. I would point out that this form is to be used to request records of an administrative nature only. Records from court case files must be requested through the appropriate clerk's office, as noted on the form.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Hello,

I see the Judiciary's APRA form but not the procedures. Could you please send these, or point to the URL that has procedures?

Thank you!

From: Berke, Craig N.

Dear Mr. Musgrave,

Attached is a copy of our form, along with a one-page procedure description, which incidentally repeats much of what is on the form itself. There is no fee to fulfill your request. A link to the form appears on the home page of the Rhode Island Judiciary's website. Because I often encounter confusion about the form's purpose, I would point out that this form is to be used to request records of an administrative nature only. Records from court case files must be requested through the appropriate clerk's office, as noted on the form.
