Pursuant to North Carolina Public Records Law (G.S. §§ 132-1 through 132-10), I hereby request the following documents:

1. All records created and/or collected from January 1, 2015 to the present concerning the use, storage, and retention of data obtained through the use of Automated License Plate Reader (“ALPR”) systems, including:

a. Records that describe what type(s) of data are obtained through the use of ALPR technology;

b. Records that describe what type(s) of data obtained through the use of ALPR technology are stored in any manner (electronic or otherwise) for any period longer than one hour;

c. Records that describe who within your agency may access the data;

d. Records that describe who outside your agency may access the data, what procedures they must go through to obtain access and who within your agency must authorize access;

e. Records that indicate the existence or non-existence of a system that records who accesses the data and when the data is accessed;

f. Records that describe the purposes or reasons for which the data may be used or accessed;

g. Records that describe how long data is stored or when such data must be discarded, deleted or purged.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
