Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act ("APRA"), I hereby
request the following records:
A full list of the teachers who have received layoff letters for the
2014-2015 school year, as well as the full list of teachers’ names
submitted to the Rhode Island Department of Education for possible layoff for
the 2014-2015 school year.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request
is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to
the general public free of charge as part of the public information service
at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is
made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would
inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would
prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available
or CD-ROM if not.

The public records unit is in receipt of your records request below. The City does not maintain any documents responsive to this request as no teachers received layoff letters and no names were transmitted to RIDE in this regard.
In accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws § 38-2-8, you may wish to appeal this decision to the Chief Administrative Officer. In this instance, Dr. Susan Lusi, Superintendent of Providence Schools, fulfills that role. You may also wish to file a complaint with the Department of the Attorney General or the Rhode Island Superior Court.
