Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
A copy of any communication from/to/or regarding Aaron Regunberg for years 2018/2019 referencing universal pre-K education initiatives, endorsement, affordable housing, or law school. I would also like to know his salary.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

A message was sent to you regarding record request #19-1326:
Dear requester,
We have today released all communication to or from Mr. Regunberg with the keywords "law school" or "endorsement." We have withheld one attachment to those e-mails pursuant to R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(K) as a preliminary draft. We have also released a document that addresses your request for information on Mr. Regunberg's salary. That document has been redacted pursuant to R.I.G.L. §§ 38-2-1 and 38-2-2(4)(A)(I)(b), for personal privacy reasons.
The Public Records Unit respectfully extends the time to respond to the remainder of your request, regarding pre-K education and affordable housing, by an additional twenty (20) business days, pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 38-2-3(e). This is due to the voluminous nature of the records requested, which constitute almost 1000 e-mail messages and additional Asana tasks, and the number of requests for records pending (30).
Please also note that if a document we have released today would also be responsive to a different search term, we will not be releasing it again, to avoid duplicating effort and doubled e-mails. Essentially, if a document we have released to you today is responsive to both pre-K and endorsements, for instance, we will forego releasing it when we respond in the future, as we have already provided you with the documents released with this response.

We have just released a second and final batch of documents, encompassing communications regarding Pre-K and affordable housing, and attachments to any e-mails.
Please note that we have withheld documents pursuant to:
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(A)(I)(a), to prevent the disclosure of information protected by the attorney-client privilege;
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(E), as information which would not be available by law or rule of court to an opposing party in litigation;
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(M), as communications with an elected official in their official capacity; and/or
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(S), as information we are unable to release under federal law (namely, a copy of a copyrighted article from the journal Urban Structure & Practice, information about which can be found here).
No portion of the withheld documents contains reasonably segregable information that is releasable. R.I.G.L. § 38-2-3(b).
Where possible, we have released reasonably segregable information. However, we have redacted some of the documents released today pursuant to:
* R.I.G.L. §§ 38-2-1 and 38-2-2(4)(A)(I)(b), to prevent the disclosure of information which would constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy;
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(E), as information which would not be available by law or rule of court to an opposing party in litigation;
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(K), because they are "preliminary drafts, notes, impressions, memoranda, working papers, and work products"; and/or
* R.I.G.L. § 38-2-2(4)(M), as communications with an elected official in their official capacity.
In accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws § 38-2-8, you may wish to appeal this decision to the Chief Administrative Officer. In this instance, Nicole Pollock, Chief of Staff, fulfills that role. You may also wish to file a complaint with the Department of the Attorney General or the Rhode Island Superior Court.
