Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:
1. A copy of any records generated or received pursuant to any policy concerning challenges to curricular, instructional, or library materials.
2. A copy of any complaints (including informal complaints), and any records generated as a result of the complaints, where the complaint led to a change in status of any book or material in a school library.
3. A copy of any current policy concerning challenges to curricular, instructional, or library materials.
4. A copy of any public records requests received concerning books, library materials, or curricular materials and any records produced in response to the request.
This request is limited to records generated on or after January 1, 2021.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Please see below in response to your request:
1. A copy of any records generated or received pursuant to any policy
concerning challenges to curricular, instructional, or library materials. The
only challenge we received is related to a 16-book review that we conducted in
the spring. All responsive documents can be found on our website at

2. A copy of any complaints (including informal complaints), and any records
generated as a result of the complaints, where the complaint led to a change
in status of any book or material in a school library. As mentioned above,
most of this information can be found on our website at

of the complaint our district received that initiated this review process.
3. A copy of any current policy concerning challenges to curricular,
instructional, or library materials. All of our school board policies can be

policies related to challenges are 2520- Selection and Adoption of
Instructional Materials and Equipment and 9130- Public Complaints. You can

4. A copy of any public records requests received concerning books, library
materials, or curricular materials and any records produced in response to the
request. Can you please confirm whether you are seeking public record requests
related to challenges of these materials OR any request related to
books/instructional material? To locate any requests dating back to January 1,
2021 to present will require a search through approximately 600 requests. We
must first determine what requests meet this criteria and then gather the
responses to those requests. We anticipate spending approximately ten (10)
hours gathering this information. Of course, this is our best estimate. If
less time is needed, we will adjust accordingly. As it stands, our good faith
estimate for producing these records is $250 (10 hours @ $25/hr.). Please let
me know if you wish to move forward based on this good faith estimate. If so,
I just need the clarifying question answered above and I will provide you with
an invoice for the required 50% deposit.
