Your request as to items #2 and #5 is unclear to us. This agency is asking you to clarify what information you are seeking concerning the portion of your request that reads as follows:
“2. the total number of civilian complaints alleging any form of law enforcement misconduct” "5. the total number of civilian complaints alleging criminal conduct If #5 is requesting civilian complaints against Sheriff Dept. then I interpret #2 and #5 to be requesting the same information.  Please clarify who you are referring to in #5.  The spreadsheet provided to you in Installment #1 contained all investigated civilian complaints from 2013-2020.
We would like to provide you with all the material you are seeking, but we are having difficulty interpreting the above quoted portion of your request. Please provide us with clarifying information that further describes the subject matter of the records you are seeking. Please include as many descriptive terms as possible. This will help us to identify the records you seek, reduce search time, avoid potentially producing more records than you want, and facilitate a faster agency response.

Please provide clarifying information to us by (Monday October 18, 2021). We look forward to receiving additional clarifying information from you as requested above. If we do not receive the requested additional clarifying information, we may only be able to fulfill those parts of your request that are clear.

If you have any questions, believe we have somehow misunderstood your request or wish to clarify your request, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hello Kellie,

In regards to complaints regarding criminal conduct, this would include instances in which a civilian filed a complaint stating an officer did an illegal search of their home/vehicle/person, deprived them of their constitutional rights, and things of that sort. Please let me know if that helps clarify this portion of the request.

Thanks,
Sam
