From: Benoit Morenne

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Arizona Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

All police and court records, investigations reports, closing reports and surveillance footage regarding the 2014 investigations of and subsequent arrests of Garry Fairbee, 35, Tarah Dailey, 33, Melissa Dailey, 34, and Troy Koehler, 40. All were arrested in connection to a retail-theft scheme involving at least $40,000 in Legos stolen from various Toys "R" Us stores. Arizona Central reported that Detectives from the Phoenix Police Organized Commercial Crimes/Business and Economic Stability Team were notified by Toys "R" Us management in March about a large number of Lego playsets being stolen from multiple stores across the Valley. (https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2014/08/15/police-200000-legos-recovered-4-people-arrested-abrk/14143047/)

I'm requesting this documents for a magazine article I'm writing for Deseret Magazine on Lego thefts across the country.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.

Sincerely,

Benoit Morenne

From: Phoenix Police Department

Hi Creshawnda,

Thank you for reaching out. Arizona Central reported at the time

"Detectives from the Phoenix Police Organized Commercial Crimes/Business and Economic Stability Team were notified by Toys "R" Us management in March about a large number of Lego playsets being stolen from multiple stores across the Valley."

If by "incidents" you mean the thefts, then it seems based on this article that some occurred in March 2014.

The arrests related to these thefts seem to have been made around the time this story was published, so possibly mid-August 2014.

Here's a link:https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2014/08/15/police-200000-legos-recovered-4-people-arrested-abrk/14143047/
