To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Louisiana Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

I’m requesting documents related to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office application to be a part of the 1033 Program, which sends surplus military gear to local police.

The program is run by the Defense Logistic Agency Disposition Services. In order to be a part of the program, the OPSO would’ve sent in an application to join.

Let me know if this is enough information to track down the request. If there’s any issue in tracking them down, I’d be happy to supply more information on where the requests would be filed away.

If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $25. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of costs related to the OPSO. I’m a freelance reporter and this information is not being sought for commercial purposes.

Please note that I would like to receive the information in electronic format. I can accept it in several formats (xls, csv, txt) and can accept the data on a variety of media (e-mail, cloud, FTP site, CD-ROM, etc.).

If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
