Zach:

Your records request actually arrived at 8:00am on February 3, 2020. Within the first half hour I sent it over to DMV (a division of ODOT) because they process their own records requests. The person to follow up with is Susan Schlipf<mailto:%20Susan.SCHLIPF2@odot.state.or.us> at DMV.

Mr. Zach Lym,

Oregon DMV does not have an active vanity plate committee, therefore we do not have any meeting minutes to share with you.

Oregon DMV has an electronic review process.
Each week, assigned representatives vote electronically on submitted custom (vanity) plate configurations.
If the vote is not unanimous, to approve or deny, DMV management makes the final determination.

Oregon DMV refers to "vanity" plates as custom plates. The term "custom plates" means customized registration plates as covered in ORS 805. This statute authorizes DMV to issue customized registration plates. To help clarify the conditions under which custom plates are issued, DMV has adopted administrative rules, OAR 735-046-0000 through 735-046-0050, which set forth procedures for the issuance of custom plates and provides guidelines for acceptance or denial of these plates.

I am sorry we could not offer you meeting minutes as requested.
I hope the additional ORS and OAR information is useful.

Thank you, Deborah
