Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Widespread news reports and agency releases show that there has been the spread and distribution of unofficial ballot boxes in your county the last month.

Therefore, I request the following information:

- Any complaints about the unofficial/fake ballot boxes from residents
- Any guidance about the unofficial/fake ballot boxes given to city, county, or state officials
- Any presentations, pdfs, legal analyses about the unofficial/fake ballot boxes distributed to or from city, county, or state officials
- Any police reports associated with these ballot boxes
- Any communication with law enforcement (state, local, or national) about the ballot boxes
- Any emails mentioning or about the unofficial ballot boxes
- Any photos, video, or voicemails related to the unofficial ballot boxes
- Any communications with the United States Postal Service or city/county sanitation services about the unofficial ballot boxes

Please search from September 1, 2020 until the day this request is processed.

This request is being made for use on Motherboard, VICE Media's science and technology website. It is not for commercial purposes.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

A document has been released for record request #20-3666 along with the following message:

Dear Mr. Koebler,

This is in response to your California Public Records Act request 20-3666 which the County Executive Office received on October 26, 2020. The request seeks the records related to unofficial ballot boxes in Orange County.

While County Executive Office has not identified responsive records, the Board of Supervisors have identified responsive records, which is being made available to you on NextRequest. Certain records/information have been withheld as exempt due to Government Code § 6255 and Article I, § 1. The public interest served by not disclosing the information clearly outweighs the public interest served by disclosure of the information. San Jose v. Supt. Ct., 714 Cal. App.4th 1008 (1999) (recognizing that the disclosure of complainant contact information could chill future participation by complainants). The redacted information is constituent names and contact information.

Nothing in this letter should be construed as a representation that the County waives any exemptions available under the California Public Records Act. Jon-Michael Bradley, Deputy County Counsel is responsible for the claim of exemption for these records pursuant to Government Code section 6255. Please contact undersigned with questions or concerns.

For records from the OC Sheriff-Coroner and Register of Voters, those departments will be responding independently to your request for records.
