Subject: RE:

I don't know Michelle Malkin or her stance on anything. In my office we make every attempt to treat all journalists as fair as possible and we are also cooperative with all requests from the press. We'll try to do a better job in weeding out "non-journalists" in the future.

I am not upset that the "interview did not go our way." On the contrary, our detectives did a very good job of articulating the facts of the case in a respectful manner. Unlike the person doing the questioning. I am upset at your misrepresentation of your intentions and the treatment of my detectives. They deserve better, apparently you have very little respect for others as long as you get what you want.

We typically do not ask for a list of questions relating to the interview. We allow "journalists" (not you) to ask whatever question they desire as long as the questions pertain to the case.

You absolutely misrepresented and misled the intentions of the interview even after we went above and beyond to provide you with all the information you requested, set up the interviews with multiple investigators (which they didn't have to do) and even allowed you to use our building to film. All this while knowing your negative intentions towards our department, it's members, our investigation, the DA's Office and the victims in this crime.

You can justify your actions all you want (if it makes you feels better) but it does not change the unpleasant experience you created.

Again, don't call us again for anything.

Captain Balderrama -

What I was going to say, before you hung up on me, was that a quick search of Michelle Malkin's name (listed in Amy's email signature) would have provided you with her stance on the subject.

I can appreciate that you are upset because the interview did not go your way, but please note that you could have done some quick research to prepare for, or possibly deny, the interview request. You never asked us for a list of questions or any information about which side of the story Michelle was coming from.

We never lied about her stance nor did we present ourselves as anything other than a production crew coming to interview the detectives. If you feel misled in any way, then, respectfully, it's because you failed to do your due diligence. Regardless, we do appreciate the time you, Gary and the detectives spent with our crew this morning.

Take care,
Kristen

Hi Captain Balderrama -

I received word that you were looking for our Associate Producer, Amy, to call you. She's out of the office today. Is there something I can help you with?

Cheers,

Kristen
