Dear Records Custodian,

I am a member of the news media requesting the following records from the Ohio Attorney General's Office pursuant to the Ohio Open Records Law:

- A copy of the raw data underlying the Ohio Stolen Guns Database, a searchable online portal available to the public at https://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/stolengun.

I request that the responsive data be produced in its entirety. If information contained within a record falls within the statutory exemptions to mandatory disclosure, I request that a copy of all segregable, non-exempt portions of the record be provided. Should you deny my request in whole or in part, please cite each specific exemption that justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures provided under law.

I am a staff writer for Trace Media Inc., dba The Trace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan news media organization dedicated to expanding coverage of guns and gun violence in the United States. I filed this request using MuckRock’s public records request management service, which I use to better track and streamline my public records requests. As a representative of the news media, I am requesting these records for newsgathering purposes.

I am willing to pay up to a maximum of $50. If fees are estimated to exceed this amount, please inform me in writing before fulfilling my request.

I am requesting that my requested data be furnished in a .csv, .txt, .xls, .xlsx, or another spreadsheet-compatible format. The records can be emailed to me at bfreskos@thetrace.org.
