Dear Mr. Osborne,
Your request to the University of Dayton Division of Athletics was
forwarded to me, as my office routinely is involved in requests for
University documents.
We appreciate your inquiry. However, as a private, Catholic university,
the University of Dayton’s transaction records are not subject to
disclosure under the Ohio Public Records Act. Nor is the University
subject to the requirements of the federal Freedom of Information Act
(“FOIA”), since the University is not a federal agency. As such, it is the
University of Dayton’s policy not to provide copies of its coaches'
contracts in response to public records requests.
Thank you very much for your understanding in this matter.
Kind regards,
Mary Ann Recker
