Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

Any email messages and/or attachments sent or received on any official BPS email account between January 1, 2016 and present that concern or make mention of any of the following topics:

- The November 2016 ballot question regarding charter school policy, a/k/a Question2
- “Great Schools Massachusetts”
- “Save Our Public Schools”
- “Boston Education Justice Alliance” (BEJA)
- “Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance” (MEJA)
- “Massachusetts Jobs with Justice”
- “Citizens for Public Schools”

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Ms Segal -

I serve as City Solicitor for the City of Northampton. Please accept this email as the City’s response to your public records request of October 18, 2016. Based upon a preliminary analysis, the City expects that approximately 2000 documents will be responsive to your request. The search, segregation and reproduction of those records will require approximately 2 hours of time of the school’s IT director at the rate of $42.24 per hour and approximately 30 hours of time at the rate of $17.99 per hour. The 2000 pages will be printed at $.20 per page. Please forward a bank check in the amount of $1,024.18 and the records search, segregation and reproduction will be undertaken. Please do not hesitate to contact me in this regard.
