To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the North Dakota Open Records Law, I hereby request the following records:
-A spreadsheet of all public high schools in the state of North Dakota that offer a journalism course during this academic year (2019-2020)
-A spreadsheet of all student-ran media groups within all public high schools in the state of North Dakota. This spreadsheet should include the newspaper or news magazines with a corresponding link, if any, with its corresponding school in which it is housed.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.
Sincerely,
Alexa Gagosz
From: Department of Public Instruction
Hello Ms Gagosz,
I have your fax that requests:
1. A spreadsheet of all public high schools in the state of North Dakota that offer a journalism course during the 2019-20 academic year; and
2. A spreadsheet of all student-run media groups within all public high schools in the state of North Dakota.
Regarding question 1, we will research our database to find out which North Dakota high schools offer journalism courses and respond to you.
Regarding question 2, the Department of Public Instruction does not keep a list of "student-run media groups within all public high schools." NDCC 44-04-18(4)<https://www.legis.nd.gov/cencode/t44c04.pdf#nameddest=44-04-18> does not require "a public entity to create or compile a record that does not exist." You may contact the high schools themselves to find out this information.
Thank you.
