Dear Mr. Triplett,

I’ve forwarded your public records request to Jackie Bullock, our Public Records Officer. She will queue your request for processing.

We will respond to your request as promptly as possible, but please note that we have several other public records requests our staff is currently fulfilling and we appreciate your patience with this process. Once any responsive records are gathered, they must be redacted and reviewed for compliance with NC Law. Ms. Bullock will then notify you of the costs related to the reproduction of the public records.

Thank you in advance for your patience. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Bullock at jackie.bullock@ncwildlife.org.
Best regards,

Erica

A copy of documents responsive to the request.

From: Donald Triplett III

Dear Ms. Bullock,

Thank you for the responsive documents provided. Unfortunately, there were a few records that I requested that weren't provided: a copy of the budget/budgets for the Operation, investigative reports, and documents related to internal investigations (if any were conducted).

Regarding copies of any budget/budgets related to the Operation, please note that I have now made similar requests for documents to all agencies involved in the Operation, and none have provided me with anything related to the financial side. Please provide me with copies of any documents related to the budget or financial administration of this particular Operation.

In terms of investigative reports that the Commission may hold, please release all records/documents than can be released under § 132-1.4 (c)(1-6). This would include, but would not be limited to, "the time, date, location, and nature of a violation or apparent violation of the law reported to a public law enforcement agency" (c) (1), as well as the "the time, date, location, and nature of a violation or apparent violation of the law reported to a public law enforcement agency" (c) (3).

As far as documents related to any internal investigation of the officers involved is concerned, I note that I was provided with a copy of a formal complaint that an investigative reporter for WLOS filed (or was trying to file), and if any internal investigative action was taken on this complaint, or any other complaint regarding the officers involved (as there were 67 complaints filed with the DOJ, as mentioned in another responsive document), please provide me with those documents as well.

Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Donald Triplett, III

Dear Ms. Bullock,

In my previous email, I accidentally misrepresented what § 132-1.4 (c)(3) reads (I apparently copied (c)(1) twice). (c)(3) reads: "The circumstances surrounding an arrest, including the time and place of the arrest, whether the arrest involved resistance, possession or use of weapons, or pursuit, and a description of any items seized in connection with the arrest."

Sincerely,

Donald Triplett, III

There are no additional records responsive to this request.

From: Donald Triplett III

Thank you for your reply stating that there are no additional records responsive to this request.

Does this mean that no action was taken on the WLOS reporter's complaint, and that no additional records regarding the complaint, including correspondence, exist?

Thanks,
Donald Triplett
